The Alberta Covid Survey

Your opinion matters.

The people of Alberta deserve a voice which includes the opinions and concerns of all of us. This survey has been provided as a tool to let our government know what Albertans really think. As with all democracies, majority rule should be the primary concern of our elected officials. Please be honest in your answers. The survey is completely anonymous and you will not be asked for any identifying information.

IMPORTANT

You may only take this survey once. Please read each question carefully and think about your answer before responding. You will be able to view survey results after completion.

A Guide to Answering Difficult Questions

Every effort has been made to provide questions and responses which represent the full spectrum of public opinion. However we recognize that with such a contentious issue it is impossible for any survey to do this perfectly. You will no doubt encounter questions where none of the answers accurately represent your opinion. In these cases, please choose the answer which most closely matches. All questions are required.

Step 1 of 4 - Our Health - 15 Questions

  • less dangerous than seasonal fluabout as dangerous as seasonal fluonly dangerous to the elderly and those who have serious pre-existing comorbiditiesmay be dangerous to all Albertans of any age or level of healtha serious health threat and potentially deadly to all Albertans of any age or level of health
  • believe Covid is no threat to my life or health whatsoeverbelieve Covid is no more a threat to me than the fluam worried that while I likely wouldn’t die, I could get very sick if I get Covid-19am worried I will suffer long-term health issues if I get Covid-19am afraid I will die if I get Covid-19
  • Covid-19 has resulted in little or no extra deaths (the death of people who would not otherwise have died soon anyway from some other cause)Some extra deaths may be occurring but probably no more than in a bad flu seasonCovid-19 has resulted in a significant numbers of extra deathsI’m not really sure what to think
  • The lockdowns have absolutely caused far more deaths than the virus has or ever couldThe lockdowns are likely causing more deaths than the virusMore people are dying from the virus than from the lockdowns, but I still question if there might be better ways than lockdowns to protect peopleMore people are dying from Covid than from the lockdowns, but perhaps not by a wide marginIf it weren’t for the lockdowns significantly larger numbers of people would be dying from Covid-19
  • The numbers are entirely misleading as the majority are healthy people who are not contagiousThe numbers are suspect, as the PCR test was never intended for the purpose of finding out if someone is contagiousThe numbers are of some concern to me, and must mean that there is a public health risk to some degreeThe numbers are accurate and meaningful and show that we must continue to take all possible actions against this disease
  • part of a campaign of planned fearmongeringlikely not part of some nefarious plan, but an unreliable method of determining if someone is infectiousbeing used in good faith, and even if it is resulting in some false positives we should keep using it until there is a better alternativethe best tool we have for determining if someone is infectious and therefore we must keep using it
  • Are largely empty, both because Covid cases are being over-reported and because people are afraid to go to the hospitalAre not seeing any greater burden on ICU, or any greater number of deaths than in any other yearMight be in danger of being overwhelmed, not because of Covid, but because health care workers are being forced to isolate for 14 days if they get sickCould be overwhelmed by Covid patients if we end the lockdowns, mask bylaws and social distancingAre in serious danger of being overwhelmed due to Covid and we need to be even more vigilant to prevent this
  • Yes, and that fact is being knowingly hidden in order to cause unwarranted fearNo, and now that I know I’m questioning if the ICU numbers might be misleadingWhether yes or no I still believe the numbers are cause for concernI don’t believe that. Our health authorities are taking steps to be sure that Covid cases are accurately reported and they would have taken that into account
  • have little or no effect in preventing the spread of Covid and should be stoppedmay have some effectiveness in preventing the spread of Covid but are still doing more harm than good and should be stoppedmay have some effectiveness in preventing the spread of Covid and should be continued, at least for a whileare an effective measure against the spread of Covid and should be continued for as long as the threat exists
  • has little or no effect in preventing the spread of Covid and should be stoppedmay have some effectiveness in preventing the spread of Covid but is still doing more harm than good and should be stoppedmay have some effectiveness in preventing the spread of Covid and should be continued, at least for a whileis an effective measure against the spread of Covid and should be continued for as long as the threat exists

  • would be much more effective in preventing cases and deaths than lockdownswould be effective tools if used in conjunction with lockdownslikely wouldn’t make any difference and we should continue with lockdowns and masksI don’t know as I’ve either never heard of these therapies or know very little about them
  • I learned on my own by researching onlineI learned from friends or social mediaI learned from my employerI learned by listening to the newsI already knew as I am a medical professional
  • highly dangerous and the use of a vaccine which has been rushed into production without adequate testing is criminally irresponsiblebeing pushed upon the public too soon, and more time for testing is needed, as we don’t know enough about possible side effectsbeing distributed in good faith, but I have my doubts about taking it personallybeing distributed in good faith and I’ll likely take it as soon as I canabsolutely necessary, a vital measure to stop the spread of the disease, and I’ve already gotten it or will as soon as I possibly can
  • This is nothing but planned fearmongering and we should all be asking who is benefiting from thisGiven that Covid-19 produced many times fewer deaths than was originally predicted, I’m somewhat suspicious of these warningsThe government may be overreacting to an unproven threat, but likely feel they would be remiss in not warning the public of a possible future dangerThe government is acting in good faith and only being responsible in warning us that the worst may be yet to come
